Meet the Leaders: Minister for Public Administration Erik Slottner

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting Minister of Public Administration Erik Slottner for our first Meet the Leaders session of 2024. 

The Minister highlighted the many opportunities AI presents, such as improved healthcare, crime fighting, and optimizing resources to combat climate change. Additionally, Minister Slottner addressed concerns, such as digital exclusion and misuse by authoritarian governments, and he emphasized the need train AI in ethics and values.

Turning attention to Sweden's digitalization initiatives, particularly the establishment of the AI Commission, Minister Slottner underscored the importance of regulations that foster innovation while cautioning against any over-regulation. The AI Commission aims to analyze and propose strategies for advancing Sweden as a leading AI nation with respect to research, industrial, and welfare; through initiatives such as ensuring sufficient higher education in AI, promoting competitive AI globally, attracting venture capital, streamlining public administration, and addressing the impact of AI on security and democracy.
