Sustainability Working Committee

The Sustainability Working Committee focuses on environmental, social and governance (ESG) directed business practices. ESG criteria add value to business and society through sustainable solutions and the core mission of the committee is to share positive examples of ESG-minded best practices, as well as new initiatives stemming from ESG criteria:

  • Environmental criteria: stewardship of nature

  • Social criteria: relationships with employees, diversity and inclusion, suppliers, customers, and communities

  • Governance criteria: leadership, audits, internal controls, and anti-corruption

Mission

  • Support companies in developing sustainability initiatives through knowledge sharing

  • Demonstrate the positive impact of sustainability initiatives

  • Promote the exchange of ideas from an American-Swedish perspective

Workings of the SWC

The Sustainability Working Committee primarily shares knowledge and arranges programs presenting initiatives of interest for the broader AmCham membership. The committee also follows trends and provides expert insights into specific sustainability-related issues based on member interest and requests from the Board of Directors and other Working Committees.

In addition, the Sustainability Working Committee works to align initiatives with the other Working Committees and strives to find new ways of collaboration and communication.

Key Tasks

  • Actively monitor, identify and share positive examples, new trends, and initiatives

  • Arrange two programs per year

  • Attract new members to AmCham
