Future of Money with Oliver Wyman

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a breakfast event at Oliver Wyman with executives from AmCham member companies. Andrew Wiseman and Nick Raper from Oliver Wyman led an engaging discussion on the future landscape of digital currencies, exploring different scenarios for the future. The session concluded with a Q&A session, with many interesting questions from the guests.

The financial landscape is rapidly changing and has the potential to fundamentally reshape the financial system. Despite market volatility and failures, parts of the digital asset ecosystem, including tokenization and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), continue to advance. The disruptive power of digital assets and distributed ledger technology have the potential to revolutionize the competitive arena, paving the way for fresh opportunities for incumbents. The future of digital assets depends heavily on the evolution of digital money, which is essential for the functioning of the financial system. Different forms of digital money, such as CBDCs, tokenized deposits, and stablecoins, could form the basis of new approaches.

Many thanks to Andrew and Nick for their insightful presentation, to Oliver Wyman for hosting, and to the guests for attending and helping to shape the conversation.
