How quickly a year goes by. And the best way to mark the passing of time is to attend AmCham’s traditional Christmas reception. On December 7, a record-breaking 350 members and their guests had registered, and gathered at the Hilton Slussen in downtown Stockholm.

It was a great opportunity to renew both business and social acquaintances and make new ones from a broad swath of the Swedish-American business community.

While the beautiful frozen city snowscape outside reminded us why we were inside drinking well-deserved Christmas cheer, Director Berit Salheim reviewed the year’s activities. There were over 25 well-attended functions in 2010, giving AmCham a bigger footprint than ever in the business community. And to stay abreast of the times, AmCham started three new committees: Healthcare, Media and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Berit and AmCham Vice Chairman Richard Marston, who is Executive Director of MTG Academy, together thanked the eleven sponsors this year* and gave out prizes that they had provided.

These included a painting by artist and designer Agneta Livijn, a weekend for two at Sälens Högfjällshotell, and two round-trip tickets to New York from Delta Airlines.

Besides good fellowship and conversation on a pre-Nobel December day, we all went home winners this year. The traditional sponsor’s goody bag included a Disney Video, along with some very untraditional foods and beauty products – always a hint of what’s in the import pipeline.

See you next year – and Happy Holidays!
