OSAC Seminar: "Criminality in Sweden"

Klas Kärrstrand from the Institute for Security and Development Policy, and Christer Ekberg from the National Criminal Police, discussed criminality in Sweden today and how the effects of globalization and the progress of technology are changing the dynamics of crime in Sweden.

AmCham and the OSAC committée (Overseas Security Advisory Council) Invited AmCham members to an interactive discussion on February 12 at Sjheraton Stockholm Hotel.

Klas Kärrstrand described current criminality patterns in the Baltic region. Mr Kärrstrand analyzed the situation of the law enforcement agencies and their current co-operation. Christer Ekberg built on this topic and presented an overview of organization and management of the National Criminal Police in Sweden.

The breakfast could easily have turned into an entire day seminar, as the guests actively participated with many questions. The following discussion touched on immigration, smuggling, trafficking, cyber crime, gang violence and economic crime, among other things. All topics which are highly relevant in the Swedish and international society today, and hence affects several aspects of doing business in Sweden.
