With Easter coming up next weekend, Spring is really here! IWe hope you'll be celebrating it with new energy and new visions. Today, more than ever, we need visions and persons who can inspire us.  It was a pleasure receiving Daniel Pink, an American author of bestselling books about the changing world of work. He talked to us about human motivation, the secret to high performance in life and how to do better by ourselves and our world.

In 2010 we invite you to plenty of events covering different topics. The year started with a series of breakfast meetings with guest speakers from the government. The Minister for Health and Social Affairs, Göran Hägglund, outlined the current government’s views on the welfare system and the role of business in its development. Minister for Education Jan Björklund delivered a frank and lucid assessment of the importance of education in a global economy.

One of the key issues driven by AmCham this year is how to attract and retain talent – of concern for most of our member companies. At a seminar we discussed the global war for talent and how Sweden can compete. Pontus Braunerhjelm of Globaliseringsrådet presented issues of entrepreneurialism and looked at broad global trends where knowledge becomes a key advantage. We will follow-up on this topic.

We continue to build a platform for the member companies’ leaders where they can come together to network. Our committees meet and new insights are developed through their unique engagement.  Best practices are shared - see a good example by the finance directors on how to leverage global outsourcing to win in Nordic, under News on our website.

Sweden offers a set of globally unique opportunities for U.S. businesses, and we believe that AmCham can play a key role in leveraging them. To know more about your present priorities, and challenges we will shortly send you a survey - I hope you will take the time to participate.

Don’t’ forget to mark your calendars for a breakfast on April 22 with Bo Lundgren, Riksgälden, and the Annual General meeting on May 27. We look forward to seeing you there!
