Update December 2011:

The AmCham Finance Committee has taken up its activities again as of October this year, focusing its first meetings so far on renewing the action plan for 2012. The group aims to bring together the CFO’s of US companies in Sweden with the objective to enable sharing & reapplying knowledge and best practices, building our capability as finance leaders, and external engagement.

We have identified a number of topical areas in which we want to engage as a team and which we feel are of common interest among US companies in Sweden, and beyond. These areas include the recent developments in the macro-economic environment, the importance of Finance talent and our evolving organization needs, and the accounting & regulatory environment. The macro-economic area lends itself both to an external panel discussion and to sharing among each other how we as companies are reacting and adapting to economic trends.

Secondly, we see Finance talent as an important area at the interplay of skills needed to succeed in our companies, Finance roles we as multinational companies offer in Sweden today, and how the education system supplies Finance talent - and we see this interplay as an opportunity to both engage externally and learn from each other.

Thirdly, we continue to see the accounting and regulatory environment as an opportunity to share best practices among our companies, and to be an active part of the public discussion and topical developments in this area. 

We are currently a group of 8 CFO’s of US companies in Sweden from different industries, meeting bi-monthly for 90 minutes at each others’ offices, to exchange thoughts and drive our action plan forward. We would be happy to welcome further CFO’s of US companies in Sweden, with an interest to develop a network among other finance professionals and engaging externally, to join our group.
