Globalization is putting the public and private sectors under huge pressure in many countries. The need for change challenges traditional education systems to secure and to avoid educating youth into unemployment but also to re-skill unemplyed adults.

Many Ministers of Education are struggling with the right skills development of their students. What shall they learn? What are the right competences for the 21st Century? How do we teach them and secure learning? Are we measuring the right things?

As vice president of education for Microsoft Corp.'s Worldwide Public Sector organization, Anthony Salcito works with education institutions and partners globally to embrace technology to optimize learning environments and student achievement. In this role, Salcito oversees the worldwide execution of Microsoft's vision for education and its partnership and technology outreach efforts via the Worldwide Partners in Learning, Partners for Technology Access, and Public and Private Alliances programs.
