The Young Professionals network met for a Business after hours on the theme of “Doing Business in Developing Countries” and the event hosted a broad range of attendees. The event gathered researchers, students, young professionals from the private sector as well as government representatives.
The speakers for this evening event was Carl Horn af Rantzien, founder and chairman of Granular AB and Harry McNeil, researcher at SIIA, the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
Carl was one of the founders of “ A Non Smoking Generation” and is a successful entrepreneur that combines competitive business opportunities with doing good. Go to www.granular.se to read more about this fascinating and fast growing company. Harry McNel is a researcher for SIIA and last spring he released a study on how the Swedish private sector can and should interact more with the public side to create wealth in developing countries. Here is a link to Harry's latest report in this field (only available in Swedish unfortunately): "Det svenska näringslivet i utvecklingsarbetet"
The Young Professionals Committee would like to thank everybody who attended the event for a lively and active participation with a lot of good and relevant questions. We hope to continue in the same way at our next event in the beginning of 2010. We will get back to you on where and when it will take place.
At the same time, we from the Committee, would like to thank you all for a good year. The Young Professionals Network is growing fast and we’ve hosted more events than ever before thanks to your interest and support. We are looking forward to seeing you at our events next year. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, hoping for a lot of good things to come in 2010.
Best regards,
The Young Professionals Committee
