Mr Alderman Ian Luder took office as the 681st Lord Mayor of the City of London on Friday 7th November 2008. As Lord Mayor he promotes the Square Mile as the world´s leading international financial and business centre and advises the UK government on the prerequisites for a well functioning financial services sector. Promoting the City abroad the Lord Mayor meets official sector representatives of incoming EU presidencies – the turn has now come to Stockholm.
